What is the Assistive Technology Hub?
People living with a brain injury can experience a variety of cognitive impairments that may affect their attention, concentration, information processing, short and long-term memory, and executive function. Many people find everyday activities challenging, such as:
- Going to the shops but forgetting what to buy,
- Getting on the wrong bus or train,
- Leaving home without the keys,
- Needing to be prompted to take medication,
- Loosing track of mealtimes,
- Getting started on leisure activities.
The Assistive Technology Hub is a specialist service, which is dedicated to using technology to support people with a brain injury who experience these type of cognitive challenges.
Assistive technology can be any piece of equipment that can make things easier to do and allows people to be more independent. It can include smartphones, tablets, apps, wearables and smart home devices.
The Assistive Technology Hub can provide a range of services which focus on using this technology. Services are tailored to the individual’s needs and can include assessment, technology trial, prescription, training, and evaluation.
