Tool for dynamic assessment of technology-mediated communication tasks for adults with TBI

Tool for dynamic assessment of technology-mediated communication tasks for adults with TBI

What is the aim of the study?
UTS is now recruiting for people to join our study! We have created a new assessment tool to dynamically assess how people with TBI communicate using technology (e.g. smartphones). This tool will hopefully improve how speech pathologists assess digital communication skills after brain injury and make goal setting and rehabilitation more efficient in this field.

We are looking for people to test the new assessment tool and tell us what they think and how it could be improved. This will let us make changes before it is used in clinical practice.

WHAT: You will complete a 1 – 1.5 hour interview where you will try out the digital tool and talk about your thoughts. If you live outside of Sydney, this will be completed online/virtually. If you live in Sydney, you can choose to complete this online or in-person.

You will be reimbursed for your time with gift vouchers.

Who can participate?
We are looking for:

  • Adults (currently 18+ years) with a lived experience of TBI,any severity, any time post-onset
  • Family members orfriends or significant others of people with TBI who provide regular support
  • Speech pathologists with at least 2 years’ experienceworking with people with TBI

You can join on your own or as a dyad/triad. Please see the attached flyer. Check if you fit the eligibility criteria by completing this survey: https://utsau.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6L4Mi0XB5ggtwy2

When will the study conclude?
The interviews will be conducted in June/July.

ETHICAL APPROVAL: We have ethical approval from the University of Technology Sydney (HE-2025-0122).
